Mobile International Speedway presents the season’s most ambitious night of racing Saturday, August 31. More race cars than at any other event this season will compete in the Lee Fields Memorial which features racing in seven divisions. The annual Labor Day weekend event is held as a tribute to the late Lee Fields, owner/operator of MIS through 1999 and a nationally-known professional wrestler and promoter. His widow, Ida, currently owns the facility.

The Lee Fields Memorial weekend is presented by the Mobile Sports Authority and the Mobile Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau. All out-of-town race teams are encouraged to spend the entire weekend in the Mobile area. Use this link for Mobile area lodging and dining info:

The highlight of the program will be a 100 lap feature for Pro Late Models. Two drivers from the Southern Super (Late Model) Series top 10 have entered the century grind. Pensacola’s Mike Garvey (4th) and Hunter Robbins (5th) of Shorter, AL will face a host of Pro Late Model competitors Saturday evening.

Two-wheeled high speed adventure, presented by Hall’s Motorsports, is also on tap with the Southern Motorcycle Asphalt Racing Series. Pensacola’s Rob McLendon, unbeaten on the MIS high banks in the last several years, will attempt to add another victory to his winning streak.

Feature races will also be held for five local divisions: Pro Trucks, Super Stocks, Modifieds, Sportsmen, and Bombers.

Practice sessions for all divisions are scheduled Friday, August 30 from 5 to 9:30 PM. Immediately following the practice sessions, a Pit Party, sponsored by Hoosier Tire, will feature free hot dogs and beer (for 21 and over).

Friday evening Pit Passes are $10 (minor releases required). Grandstand admission is free.
