Lee moved to Mobile while he was traveling the south as a professional wrestler. He loved the area, acquired land in Irvington for what is now the speedplex we enjoy today.
A half mile oval track, a drag strip, and a place for auctions, all just off Hiway 90. Lee worked to build interest in motorsports, and was himself a driver  for awhile.
Lee and his wife Ida together put together what we see today.  Lee left us in 2000 just shy of his 70th birthday after a battle with Leukemia.
The race is in Lee’s memory, an athlete, promoter, driver and successful businessman.
