Chase Elliott Wins
June 26 100 Lap Race
Augie Grill Disqualified Because
of Rule Violation
The cylinder heads on the super late model belonging to Augie Grill were found to have been altered from their original manufacture status and thus Grill was disqualified as winner of the most recent 100 lap super late model race at Mobile International Speedway.
Grill was moved to last place in the finishing order as well as in the qualifying order.
The disqualification of Grill elevates Chase Elliott to the victory in the June 26 race.
According to Ricky Brooks, Chief Technical Inspector for Mobile International Speedway the cylinder heads on the Grill engine had been altered.
“The rules state that you cannot do any work on the heads,” said Brooks, who added, “There can be no work in the bowls, chambers or runners and this is where the work was done”.
Brooks also said he had an independent machine shop inspect the heads. He also shipped the heads to the manufacturer Dart Performance Engine Technology and both confirmed that the heads in question had been altered from original manufacture condition.
